Entrance Exams Scheduled for Police, Correctional Officers

The Division of Personnel (DOP) has announced the police officer and correction officer examination dates, according to a press release issued Friday by Milton E. Potter, DOP director.
Qualifications:
A candidate must have completed grade 12 or possess an equivalency certificate.
A candidate must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Virgin Islands motor vehicle operator’s license.
Candidates must be a JU.S. citizen at least 20 years of age and not have reached his/her 46th birthday.
Candidates must successfully pass the Civil Service written examination, physical agility test, psychological exam, oral board review and a comprehensive background check.
Sign-up period is Aug. 1-12; testing dates are Sept. 12-16.
Note: All interested candidates must sign-up and submit a complete application package at their respective district office by close of business day on Friday, Aug. 12. Candidates who submitted an application prior are required to notify The Division of Personnel of any changes it mailing address in order to ensure receipt of confirmed exam notice. A preparation guide for the police officer written examination will be distributed during the week of Aug. 15-19.
The following candidates will be exempted for sitting for the Civil Service exam, but they are required to meet all other established criteria for qualification.
1) Persons holding a degree in any field (Associate’s and above) from an accredited institution
2) All honorably discharged veterans from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces
