Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Crime Stoppers is asking your help to solve the following crimes. Even the smallest bit of information may be just what law enforcement needs to solve these cases.

St. Croix: VIPD needs your help to identify the person(s) involved in the homicide of 20-year-old Akeem Lee, who was shot on King Street in Frederiksted on Jan. 4; and Gary Gonsalves, 31, and Charlesworth Gonsalves Jr., 16, who were shot at Mutual Homes on Feb. 3.

St. John: Sometime after 9 p.m. on Feb. 3, a burglar(s) entered a home in Fish Bay while the occupants slept, stealing an iPod. Please help police identify and arrest the individual(s).

St. Thomas: Police need additional information to identify the killer(s) of a male who was shot to death in the area of Paul M. Pearson basketball court on Dec. 19, 2009 at about 5:40 a.m.

Please help law enforcement to solve not only the four homicides above, but any of the other unsolved homicides in the territory. Your help will provide closure to the victims’ families while sending a message to the lawless element that we no longer tolerate crime in the USVI.

Community members can submit tips to Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The tips are completely anonymous, and the stateside operators are bilingual. Tipsters can also submit tips online at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org or by texting “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637). If a tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs, or weapons, the tipster receives a cash reward to be paid according to their instructions. Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards.

Crime Stoppers is pleased to report they have recently authorized three rewards totaling $3,177. If you submitted a tip, please check to see if you are entitled to a cash reward, as unclaimed rewards expire six months after the award date. Crime Stoppers USVI is run entirely by volunteers and is financed by membership dues and sponsor contributions. To join them in the fight against crime, please visit their web site at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org and become a dues-paying member.
