I Had a Call Today

Dear Source:
I had a call today from a candidate to the constitutional convention. She said, "her bio" was not included in the Daily News Voter Guide published Thursday. I reluctantly told her that the same thing happened to me. I, too, am a candidate and my information was also not included in the voter's guide. Neither of us received a form from the paper asking for this information.
Voters rely on this information. Some bring the special edition into the booth with them when they vote. I am fortunate because what I had to say was conveyed in my printed advertisements in the same guide. The lady was not so lucky. Unless her personal contact with voters was overwhelmingly effective, the voters will know nothing about the candidate.
Hopefully, Source readers know that a "one shot" special edition in the printed media can have problems such as these. I was lucky enough to have advertisements but I feel badly for other. Voters are justified in thinking that we purposely refused to provide that information, which is just not true.
