Jan. 19, 2007 — Residents and visitors will gather at Cinnamon Bay Campground's T'ree Lizards Restaurant this Sunday for the annual Friends of the V.I. National Park annual meeting.
Friends President Joe Kessler said people should come to learn more about the park and the Friends organization. "And to be with people who have a similar interest," he said.
Vin Cipolla, president and chief executive officer of the National Park Foundation, is the keynote speaker.
The foundation serves as the philanthropic partner of the country's national parks.
Before his appointment, Cipolla served as president and CEO of Veritude, the employer services and workforce management company of Fidelity Investments. He also served as executive vice president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and as publisher of Preservation magazine.
Acting Park Superintendent Rafe Boulon will give the state of the park address, with Kessler weighing in with an annual report on Friends' activities and future plans.
The meeting begins at 2 p.m.
Additionally, the Friends will present its annual volunteer of the year award. Refreshments will follow the meeting.
Those attending are encouraged to park at the park's maintenance yard next to Mongoose Junction in Cruz Bay because parking at Cinnamon Bay is limited. The Friends will provide a shuttle from the maintenance yard to Cinnamon Bay.
