VIPD Seeks Robbery Suspect

The V.I. Police Department announced Monday that it is seeking Samuel "Sammy" McDonald, a 20-year-old Crucian who is suspected in an armed robbery.

According to police, at about 8 p.m. Friday the father of a minor child reported that his son was robbed at gunpoint in the vicinity of the Sion Farm Ball Park. The boy told police that while he was hanging out in the vicinity of Sion Farm Ball Park, an unknown man approached him, pointed a gun at his chest and took his belongings.

The department’s flyer said McDonald was wanted for first-degree robbery, but did not indicate why he was named as a suspect.

Police said McDonald is a black male who frequents Estate Strawberry, Sunny Acres and the Sion Farm area. He weighs about 130 pounds, stands between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt and dark colored pants, with a black du-rag and hat on his head.

The VIPD urged anyone who comes in contact with McDonald to approach with caution, and urged anyone with information about the incident or McDonald’s whereabouts to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6033, 911, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
