WORKSHOPS TO REPAIR HISTORIC WALLS, HINGES

Feb. 10, 2003 – The V.I. Danish Apprenticeship Initiative and the V.I. State Historic Preservation Office will host a series of workshops on "Conservation Techniques: Materials and Methods for Painting Historic Walls and Repairing Old Hinges." The series began today at the Fort Frederik Museum with instruction on mixing linseed oil paint and treating old hinges. Workshops continue through Feb. 18.
The goal of VIDA is to facilitate public education and the promotion of restoration of historic buildings in the territory. Danish preservation architect Ulla Lunn will facilitate the workshops, along with skilled blacksmith Martin Staunsager and decorative painter Christian Krogh.
