Sept. 14, 2005 – Commissioner of Labor Cecil R. Benjamin announced that Governor Charles W. Turnbull has proclaimed September as "Labor Awareness Month" in the Virgin Islands. By virtue of this proclamation, the Department of Labor will host a variety of activities to pay homage to the hardworking men and women of this territory.
Benjamin states, "The cultural, economic and social growth of our beautiful Virgin Islands is a direct result of the contributions of our diverse and hardworking labor force. Many strides have been made in the development of a viable workforce to meet the challenges of the 21st century and to ensure that everyone benefits from the economic stability and development derived from the skilled, talented and productive workers in our community."
Additionally, every Wednesday for the entire month of September, the St. Thomas office will hold "Customer Appreciation Day" where breakfast will be served to customers. The offices on St. Croix at the Sunny Isles Church Street and Fredericksted locations will host "Customer Appreciation" on Thursday, Sept. 15.
