Public Services Commission Needs to Reform

The Public Services Commission's rubber-stamping of Vitelco's application for RTFC funds is in no way in the public interest. What would be in the public interest is to grant the public access to another telephone provider. Recently it took 36 days to get my phone repaired. 36 days without phone service is just unacceptable, and I consider myself lucky because I know people that have been waiting as long as 10 months to have their phones repaired. If I had access to another phone company, I assure you that my phone would have been repaired in a matter of days, not weeks. I believe that the PSC has done a disservice to the people of these Virgin Islands by continuing to rubber stamp every request that Vitelco has made. With the amount of money that RTFC has given Vitelco, we all should have nothing less than a state of the art telephone system. The PSC continued support of Vitelco has done nothing but given us a phone system that even countries less fortunate than we would not stand for. The PSC needs to think about better ways to improve the service that we all pay dearly for, the highest in the world.
