A woman found dead Monday morning in the Danish cemetery in Hospital Ground on St. Thomas has been identified as Philomen Winston, age 69, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to a report the police released Monday afternoon, she was found after a concerned citizen called 911 around 9:30 a.m. She was bleeding from her face and had wounds about her body, and emergency medical responders at the scene determined she did not have any vital signs, the report stated.
Winston’s death marks the 23rd homicide of the year in the territory, and the 11th on St. Thomas, according to the Source Homicide List.*
