Fort Christian Parking Lot Closes April 6 for Carnival Preparation

The Department of Public Works advises the community that the Fort Christian Parking Lot in St. Thomas will be closed to the motoring public starting Monday, April 6. This closure is to accommodate the 2026 St. Thomas Carnival Festivities. The last day to park in the lot will be Sunday, April 5. Any vehicles remaining in the lot after the closure date will be towed at the ownerโ€™s expense.

To minimize the impact on motorists, DPW has coordinated with the Virgin Islands Police Department and the Virgin Islands Port Authority to provide alternate parking along the Veterans Drive waterfront apron for the duration of the closure.

Please be advised:

  • No parking will be allowed on the Veterans Drive promenade.
  • No parking is allowed on the sidewalks along the Fort Christian Parking Lot.
  • No parking is permitted at bus stops along the Veterans Drive Highway.

Additionally, during the Carnival setup and festivities, Hospital Gade Road, which is located adjacent to the Alexander A. Farrelly Justice Complex, will be closed to the motoring public starting Tuesday, April 7. The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as we enter this Carnival season.
