SUNDAY’S WEATHER FORECAST: 5/12/24
Happy Sunday!
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Sunday will be mostly sunny, with scattered showers and possibly thunderstorms. The high temperature will be approximately 87°F, 30.5°C, with winds out of the southeast at about 10 to 13 mph. The chance of rain on Sunday is approximately 30% as an unsettled weather pattern continues. Please remember that the ground is very saturated; additional rain could lead to flash flooding.
Sunday night will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers. The low temperature will be approximately 77°F, 25°C, with winds out of the east at about 10 mph. The possibility of rain on Sunday night is approximately 20%.
Weather conditions are expected to improve as an area of low pressure moves away from the region. However, Saharan dust may be prevalent over the next few days and through next week.
Below: Infrared satellite imagery obtained at 5:40 p.m. AST on Saturday indicates a partly cloudy sky around the USVI and Puerto Rico. Additional rainfall and thunderstorms are possible.
MARINE WEATHER UPDATE
A northeasterly swell is expected to continue to fade gradually. However, gusty winds and possible thunderstorms may generate some wind-driven, choppy seas.
On Sunday, the seas will be approximately 2 feet. Winds will be out of the southeast at about 5 to 10 knots.
On Sunday night, the seas will be approximately 1 foot or less. Winds will be out of the east at about 5 to 10 knots.
The water temperature is approximately 84-85°F, approximately 29°C.
