On April 13, a team of 10 athletes from the St. Croix Track Club traveled to Puerto Rico to participate in the third qualification track and field event organized by the Association of Youth/Junior Athletics (AAJI) in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
Each athlete had the opportunity to compete in a maximum of two different events. The athletes’ rankings are determined based on their performance in the first three qualifying competitions. The top eight athletes in the sprinting events (100m, 100mH, 200m, 400m, 400mH) and the top twelve athletes in the field events will secure a spot in the finals. The finals are scheduled to take place in May.
The competing athletes were Wilfredo Concepcion, Davina Browne, Kahlan Beaupierre, Safiya Prasad, Aminah Prasad, Jahleya George, Jordan Vaughn, Alia Osborne, Curtis Charlery and A’Sharia Bernadine.
Wilfredo Concepcion – 1st in the Javelin 43.16m and 2nd in the Shot Put 10.53m in the 16/17 age group
Davina Browne – 2nd in Javelin 25.19m and 5th in Shot Put 7.87m 18/19 age group
Kahlan Beaupierre – 4th in Javelin 30.70m and 8th in Shot Put 8.78m in the 16/17 age group
Safiya Prasad – 1st in 400mH 1:12.34 and 8th in 100mH 19.56 in the 14/15 age group
Aminah Prasad – 4th in 100mH 18.05 and 12th in 200m 28.05sec in the 14/15 age group
Jahleya George – 8th place in the Shot Put 7.51m and 9th in the Javelin 14.75m in the 16/17 age group
Jordan Vaughn – 2nd in the Shot Put 11.37m and 1st in the Javelin 32.54m in the Over 19 age group
Alia Osborne – 5th in her heat of the 100m 15.30 and 27th overall in the 14/15 age group
Curtis Charlery – 6th in his heat for the 100m 12.53 14th overall and 6th in his heat for the 200m 25.92 18th overall in the 18/19 age group
A’Sharia Bernadine – 5th in the Shot Put 6.82m and 7th in the Javelin 10.95m in the 14.15 age group
