A Massachusetts man drowned at Trunk Bay Beach on St. John Monday, the V.I. Police Department reported.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., officers were notified of a possible drowning at Trunk Bay Beach, according to the police report.
At an unknown time, a man was swimming out at a far distance from the shoreline and began to take in water. The man then sought refuge on a nearby outcrop and subsequently became unresponsive. Bystanders then contacted emergency medical services for assistance; however, the man succumbed to his ailments after life-saving measures were unsuccessful, the police report stated.
The man was later identified as 49-year-old Chris Laslocky of Massachusetts, police said.
