VIPD Investigating Double Vehicular Theft Operation

Police on St. Thomas are investigating two vehicular theft operations that took place Wednesday at two car rental businesses, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On Wednesday, at approximately 10:29 p.m. VIPD swiftly responded to a report of ongoing vehicle thefts at Blue Car Rental. The diligent and rapid response of law enforcement personnel effectively disrupted the operation, preventing further thefts, despite the suspects managing to leave with one Silver Suzuki XL-7 bearing the plate number TGO-938, according to the police report.

Reports indicate that the suspects involved in the attempted theft were armed and considered dangerous, the police report stated.

Also on Wednesday, at approximately 10:40 p.m., VIPD swiftly responded to a report of ongoing vehicle thefts at Discount Car Rental. The diligent and rapid response of law enforcement personnel effectively disrupted the operation, preventing further thefts. Despite the suspects managing to leave with one Jeep Wrangler, diligent police action led to its swift recovery at the Nisky intersection, the report stated.

Officers made a crucial decision to halt all traffic in the area, aiding in the recovery of the stolen vehicle. However, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran. Reports indicate that the suspects involved in the attempted theft were armed and considered dangerous, heightening the urgency and complexity of the situation, police said.
