Friends of VI National Park Opens Registration for 21st Annual Beach to Beach Power Swim

Beach to Beach Power Swim 2024

Every Memorial Day weekend, swimmers take to the beautiful waters of Virgin Islands National Park on St. John to raise funds for kids’ swim programs, marine conservation, education outreach and more.

One of the most beautiful swims in the world, the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park’s Beach to Beach Power Swim includes the beaches of Maho Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Hawksnest Bay and Trunk Bay (which is regularly on the world’s top 10 beaches lists). The swim is number 23 on the list of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims and number 7 on the World’s Top 100 Island Swims.

Registration for the 2024 takes place on Sunday, May 2, and is open via the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park’s website (www.friendsvinp.org). Space is limited and registration will close on Wednesday, May 22, or when capacity has been reached. In the past two years, registration for this popular event has closed in April. Last year the 360 registered swimmers represented 29 states and territories aged 5 to 80 years old.

“We are excited to once again invite swimmers from near and far to swim from Maho to Cinnamon, or to Trunk, or the full 3.5-mile long course to Hawksnest,” said Tonia Lovejoy, executive director of Friends of Virgin Islands National Park. “Conceived as a fundraiser for marine protection and youth programs like Learn To Swim, it is extraordinary how this swim has grown from its inception 21 years ago.”
