A man who started an unlicensed construction company on St. Thomas and stole $11,000 from clients was apprehended in Texas and extradited to the territory Thursday, the V.I. Police Department reported.
On April 29, 2020, the Economic Crimes Unit investigated a reported case of obtaining money by false pretenses. Investigation into the complaint revealed that Jason Jensen, 51, the owner of an unlicensed construction company, intentionally took over $11,000.00 from victims who entrusted him to renovate their homes, according to the police report.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Jensen’s arrest; however, the investigation revealed that he was no longer in the territory. The warrant was placed in the National Crime Information Systems and on Nov. 1, he was apprehended in the state of Texas and held in custody, the police report stated.
Jensen was brought back to the territory through the extradition process and on Thursday at about 4:10 p.m., he was turned over to the Economic Crimes Unit detectives. His charges are obtaining money by false pretenses, grand larceny and embezzlement by fiduciaries, the report stated.
Jensen’s bail was set at $20,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
