Joseph Archibald Quinland Dies at 66

Joseph Archibald Quinland

Joseph Archibald Quinland, also known as “Cannie,” of Georgia transitioned into eternal life on Aug. 18. He was 66 years old.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Quinland; and brother, Dennis Quinland.

He is survived by his wife, Vanessa D. Hewitt-Quinland Esq.; mother, Amelia Cornelius; daughters: Latoya Quinland Pemberton, Dhakirah Hamin (Denise Quinland), Tiffany Quinland Henry and Patricia Jean Quinland Esq.; son, Dwain Quinland; grandchildren: O’Sei Joseph, O’shaun Joseph, O’shea Joseph, Imani Hanley, Rishawn Henry, Shawn Henry, Amaury Beh and Chloe Quinland; sisters: Veronica Payne, Linda Joy Hughes and Jean Cornelius Fuller; and brother, Charles Cornelius Jr.

He is also survived by nieces: Marcia Natasha Quinland, Claribel Quinland Archibald, Terry-Anne Payne, Challengor, Cemone Hughes George, Syllien Hughes, Ashley Hughes, Chenea Cornelius, Zedeka Cornelius, Jen Hughes Lundy, Carissma Hughes, Devin Hewitt and Chanel Fahie; nephews: Branko Payne, Sean Fahie, Anthony Hewitt, Kevin Hewitt Jr., Kevin Hewitt III and Cleavon Hampson; great nieces: Keyarah Quinland, Avante Archibald, Leilani Archibald, Beyonce Payne, Breyonna Payne, Bilanna Challenger, Bailey Challenger, Jaylien Stepleton, Lena Hughes and Avery Hughes Valentine; and great nephews: Branko Payne Jr., Bryce Payne, Blake Payne, Billy Challenger Jr., Micah Hurst and Jarvis Lundy Jr.

Other survivors include aunt, Ruthlyn Edwards; son-in-law, Elvis Pemberton; brothers-in-law:: Martin Hewitt, Albert Hewitt Jr., Kevin Hewitt, Sr. and Goy Payne; sisters-in-law: Alicia P. Hewitt and Ann Marie Cornelius; special friends: Elijah Holly, Isiah Joseph, Henry Johnson, Dave Samuel, Raymond Cornelius (Bladda), Adel Nicholas, Steve Samuel, the Beulah AME Zion Church family and the Jenkins Memorial CME Church family; cousins and other relatives: Joelle Owens and Jewel Owens; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by a  funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, at Beulah A.M.E. Zion, Lower Bethlehem. Interment will be at the Hewitt Family Plot, Estate Rattan.

Joe loved life and reminded his family, friends and strangers to live every day to the fullest. We ask that you wear bright colors.
