Man Drowns While Snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay

A man drowned while snorkeling Monday at Cinnamon Bay on St. John, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police were dispatched to Cinnamon Bay after a drowning was reported, according to the police report.

A man and his wife went snorkeling with their children and friends, and while snorkeling, the man began to experience issues with his snorkeling equipment, so he decided to swim back to shore. While swimming back to shore, he began to yell out for help, the police report stated.

Bystanders on the shore rushed to assist the man, who was unresponsive. He was brought ashore and was transported to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic, where he succumbed to his injuries, the report stated.

The man was subsequently identified by his wife as 41-year-old Christopher Yuhos from Pittsburgh, police said.
