Kmart Employee Accused of Sexually Assaulting Customer

A Kmart store employee has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a customer, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

33-year-old Matthew Niles, a Kmart employee, was accused of sexually assaulting a female customer on March 19 inside the Kmart Store located in Tutu Park Mall on St. Thomas, according to the police report.

Niles was arrested Sunday and charged with unlawful sexual contact in the first degree, simple assault and disturbance of the peace. Bail was set at $35,000. Niles was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
