DPW Continues Rehabilitation and Reconstruction on Section of Melvin Evans Highway.

Project: Melvin Evans Highway Reconstruction and Rehabilitation

Location: Good Hope Intersection to Williams Delight Intersection, St. Croix

Contract Cost: $12,268,386 (GARVEE Funds)

Summary: The Department of Public Works (DPW) is updating the community on the Melvin Evans Highway (MEH) Reconstruction and Rehabilitation project. DPW Contractor — VI Paving Inc. (VIP) — is currently assessing and repairing the failed streetlights. New light poles will be installed when supplies arrive on the island. As a reminder to the motoring public, the right side of the westbound lane at the Carlton Intersection remains closed to traffic while repairs are being made.

The scope of work for this sixth and final section of this Melvin Evans Highway project, includes road reconstruction, milling, asphalt paving, striping, drainage rehabilitation, signs, guardrails, raised pavement markers, vehicle detection replacement, other miscellaneous work and streetlight repairs.
