The Caribbean Museum for the Arts (CMCArts) is happy to announce that the new executive director is Lisa Mordhorst, who will begin her job on March 1.

Mordhorst brings over 20 years of international arts administration experience and over seven years as a local business owner to this critical role. Over the years, her business and finance development firm has provided hands-on leadership and innovative operational, financial and brand-building solutions to several companies in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

She is a veteran of the New York City and international art worlds, having collaborated with renowned artists, gallerists and museums throughout the world.

Mordhorst entered the professional art world after completing a BFA in photography from the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C. She has years of art management and curatorial experience as an exhibition project manager, archivist and practicing artist.

“What it took to make CMCArts what it is today is remarkable, and it is a tremendous honor to lead this distinguished organization. I am thrilled to share my experience with our community and look forward to creating new avenues for the arts of the USVI and the larger Caribbean with CMCArts at the helm,” said Mordhorst.

The board of directors is excited to welcome Mordhorst as she takes the helm of this momentous task of taking CMCArts to the next level and as we continue preserve, promote and exhibit the arts of St. Croix and the Caribbean community.
