Celebrity Edge called on Crown Bay, St. Thomas, Tuesday, marking its second stop in the territory since July 7, when it became the first cruise ship to visit the USVI since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. A total of 1,608 passengers were aboard the vessel – about half its capacity – and 972 crew, according to Capt. Matthew Berry, marine manager of the V.I. Port Authority. Celebrity ships are reporting a 97 percent vaccination rate, said the port’s Public Information Officer Monifa Marrero Brathwaite. More calls are expected in August and September, including by Celebrity Equinox, due to stop at St. Croix on Aug. 18. (Source photo by Sian Cobb)
