Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle Gears Up for Scholarship Season

The Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle has announced the availability of scholarships for high school and college students made possible by the club and community partners. Interested persons should contact Nadia Bougouneau, Scholarship Committee chair, at rotaryst.croixmidisle@gmail.com.

Applications for local scholarships will be made available to school guidance counselors and will be shared on club social media. They may also be available via club members.

Rotary Ocwen Partnership

The Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle, through their dynamic partnership with Ocwen USVI Services LLC, invites high school seniors on the college track to apply for a $5,000 renewable scholarship for up to four years of their college careers. This donation is made possible through a grant from Ocwen of $20,000 and is open exclusively to students from the St. Croix Central High School and the St. Croix Educational Complex.

The Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle currently has 12 students who receive tuition annually with funds raised by the club and in partnership with Ocwen.

Dr. Carlton Hodgson Memorial Scholarship Application

The club also invites all graduating high school seniors from all St. Croix schools, including vocational schools, to apply for a $1,000 renewable scholarship in memory of Dr. Hodgson for up to four years of their college careers. Hodgson had been an indispensable member of the Rotary Club for many years

World Affairs Seminars

Junior students in all St. Croix high schools are also invited to apply for a scholarship to attend the prestigious World Affairs Seminars in Waukesha, Wis., in the summer of June 2021. This year, World Affairs Seminars will be an interactive virtual experience focused on the topic: “Cities: Urban Life in a Changing World.”

Attendees from over 30 nations are expected. Each delegate will have her or his own story and viewpoint, contributing to conversations about urban life from a variety of social, economic, political and cultural perspectives. By the time the seminar is over, each delegate will not only know the stories of others and shared their own but will have gained skills to help them shape the world they will inherit.

More information on World Affairs Seminars is available at www.worldaffairsseminar.org

For more information, to get involved, or to donate to the club’s programs, contact the Scholarship Committee Chairperson Nadia Bougouneau or any Rotarian of the Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle.
