The detectives from the V.I. Police Department’s Domestic Violence unit arrested 20-year-old Jashem Letang of Oswald Harris Court and charged him with simple assault/domestic violence.
According to the VIPD, the arrest took place around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
On Feb. 26, an woman reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Police said the victim had noticeable injuries from the assault, where Letang reportedly threw a bottle at her, hitting her in the forehead. Letang admitted in a statement to assaulting the victim with the bottle and was placed under arrest.
Letang did not get bail, as per domestic violence statutes. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
