The V.I. Police Department on Friday arrested two men and charged them in the 2018 murder of Emile Brin at Hams Bluff.
According to police, at 7:10 p.m. Friday, 26-year-old Akeem Stanley was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and charged with first-degree murder and second-degree arson for his role in the July 14, 2018, murder of Emile Brin.
At 7:07 p.m. Friday members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested 22-year-old Josiah Sharplis and charged him with accessory after the fact (to murder and arson) and misprision of a felony in connection to his role in the murder.
Emile Brin was reported missing by his mother on July 14, 2018. Later that day a body was discovered, burnt beyond recognition, in a vehicle at Hams Bluff. Police determined that he had been killed in a home in Frederiksted by Stanley and another and they were assisted by Sharplis to disposed of the body.
Bail for both men was set at $1 million by a Superior Court judge.
St. Croix Police Chief William Harvey thanked Chief Detective Lt. Naomi Joseph and all the members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and noted information from the community led to “major breakthroughs in these cases.”
