The family of Gloria I. Hill (nee Turnbull) died on Friday, Oct. 5, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center on St. Croix.

The third child of James and Sarah Turnbull of Leonard’s Tortola, she was predeceased by her brothers: John Turnbull, Leslie Turnbull, Harris Turnbull and Richard Turnbull.

Gloria was born on Tortola but spent the last nine years on St. Croix, after having lived in New York five years prior and in Antigua for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: M. Elouise Hill-Challenger (Dorien) of N.Y., Cheryl Hill-Bruney (Phillip) of St. Croix, and Denise Otto (Eugene) of N.J.; grandchildren: Sean and Cherise Challenger, Britta Hurtault, Ashanta Bruney and Bryshawna Otto; stepchildren: Dalma Hill (Anu), Rowan Hill (R.I.), Hyacinth Matthew (Anu), Jeanier Howard (Ohio); sisters: Verna Forbes (St. Thomas), Alma Fahie (B.V.I.) and Almira Wyre (N.Y.); brothers: Samuel Turnbull (St. Thomas), Ashley (Bill) Turnbull of N.Y.; family members to include the Turnbull, Hodge, Scatliffe and Todman families in the B.V.I., U.S.V.I. and U.S.A.; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on behalf of the Herbert Grigg Home for the Aged on St. Croix, through VI Hospital and Medical Supplies, c/o P.O. Box 4119 Kingshill VI 00851. Please make checks payable to VI Hospital and Medical Supplies.

The first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Divine Funeral Home.

A second viewing will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday Oct. 24, at the Ebenezer Methodist Church at 195 Estate Richmond. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Sea Cow’s Bay Methodist Church in Tortola.
