Police Arrest Two Murder Suspects

The V.I. Police Department arrested two men Friday and charged them with first-degree homicide in connection with a June 4 killing.

According to the VIPD, warrants for K’Shawn Hughes, 20, and Andre Auguste, 27, for the murder of 23 -year-old Dean Schneider were signed Thursday by a Superior Couty judge. On Friday police executed the warrants, arresting the two men.

Both were incarcerated at the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility awaiting their advice of rights hearing, with bail set at $1 million each.

Schneider was killed in an incident that took place June 4. According to the police report, at 2:40 p.m. the 911 center dispatched officers to a discharging of shots at the Ruby M. Rouss Housing Complex in Christiansted. At the scene officers Schneider lying on the ground with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the head and leg. According to police, the officers learned that the suspects had fled the area in a heavily tinted, silver SUV.

Schneider died later that day at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
