Employees and retirees of the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) are reminded of the upcoming election for candidates to serve as the employee or retiree representatives on the Government Employees Service Commission (GESC) Group Health Insurance Board, according to a press release issued by the V.I. Division of Personnel.
The candidates are:
St. Thomas – Andre T. Dorsey (V.I. Fire Service); Dr. Gilbert K. Comissiong Jr. incumbent (Schneider Regional Medical Center); Jessica LaPlace (UVI); Cosme Christian (DOP); Lori D. Anderson incumbent (retiree representative)
St. Croix – Adelbert Bryan (retiree representative); John Abramson Jr. (retiree representative); Beverly Joseph incumbent (Department of Human Services)
V.I. law requires the representation of one active employee and retiree from the district of St. Thomas-St. John, and one active employee and retiree from the district of St. Croix to serve on the GESC/Health Insurance Board, according to a press release from the Division of Personnel (DOP).
This year, members have two options to cast their votes. They can vote via the Internet by logging on to the Division of Personnel’s Web site at www.dopusvi.org and clicking on “VOTE,” or they can call 1-877-882-1508 and follow the prompts. Voters will be prompted to enter their date of birth with no spaces (Jan. 1, 1971: 01011971), and the last four digits of their social security number. The voting window will open at 12:01 on May 10 and will close at noon on May 11.
DOP Director Milton E. Potter said, “This is an opportunity for all government employees and retirees covered by the Group Health Insurance Program to actively take part in the elections by casting their vote for the candidate of their choice. Employees/retirees may visit the Division of Personnel’s Web site at www.dopusvi.org to view candidate information to aid them in determining which candidate to select to serve as employee/retiree representatives on the Group Health Insurance Board based on the candidate’s experience and credentials.”
