The Department of Health’s (DOH) air conditioning (AC) system, located at the Charles Harwood Complex on St. Croix, is operational; therefore, the DOH has resumed regular hours of operation at the facility.
The two malfunctioning compressors in the chiller have been repaired. Although the DOH is optimistic that the unit will remain in operation, the public is reminded that the chiller is an aging system that needs to be replaced and could fail completely at any time.
The DOH has contingency strategies in case the AC unit breaks down in the future. The long-term solution is to replace the two chillers, and DOH is working diligently to do so.
