Two Arrested after Robbery Punctuated by Gunfire

Police on Wednesday arrested two young men, one an 18-year-old and one a minor, after an armed robbery that included a barrage of gunfire, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police report, at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday, the 911 emergency center received a report of approximately six gunshots fired in the vicinity of V.I. Cargo. The caller described two dark-skinned males wearing dark shirts running to the rear of a building in the area.

At the scene the officers found two individuals fitting the caller’s description close by in the vicinity of Quality Foods on Hess Road. The two individuals, 18-year-old Rajah Caul and a male minor, were detained and arrested. Police reported they recovered two firearms, a mask and a cellphone from the two suspects.

Officers then made contact with the witnesses in the vicinity at Emmanuel Scrap Metals, adjacent to V.I. Cargo in Estate Castle Coakley, who said they had been robbed of cash and a cellphone by two individuals fitting the description of the two individuals detained and arrested.

Police identified the cellphone recovered from the suspects as the one reported stolen during the armed robbery, during which numerous shots were fired.

Caul was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Facility and the male minor was detained at the Division for Youth Detention Facility.
