Man Robbed on Basketball Court

A man was injured by a gunshot Monday evening on a basketball court in Estate Glynn, according to the V.I. Police Department.

At about 8:25 p.m., officers were dispatched by 911 to investigate a report of a gunshot victim at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. The victim, whose name was not released by VIPD, told officers he was on basketball court in Estate Glynn when two black men got out of a vehicle and approached him.

He said the men robbed him of his jewelry and started firing shots at him, striking him in the upper body.

The victim was treated for his gunshot wounds at the hospital.

This case actively is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The police urged anyone with information to call the bureau on St. Croix at 340-778-2211 or St. Thomas at 340-774-2211, the 911 call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime stoppers VI, at 1-800-222-8477.
