Evans O. Nicholas

Evans O. Nicholas died on March 26. He was preceded in death by his son, Dave C. Nicholas; sisters: Sheila William, Yvonne Nicholas Tanner and Sybil Nicholas; and brothers: Eric Nicholas and Selwyn Nicholas. He is survived by his wife, Ernestine P. Nicholas; daughters: Fiola Alexander, Melisa Nicholas, Donnise Nicholas and Donette Matthias; sons: Eldred T. Nicholas and Sheldon U. Nicholas; daughters-in-law: Sanger Polydore and Nasanet Woldense-Nicholas; sons-in-law: Vernon N. Alexander and Leon H. Matthias Jr.; and grandchildren: Jahmarie Stapleton, Kevin Nicholas, Keith Nicholas, Kennley Nicholas, N’bari Alexander, Noel Woldense-Nicholas, Amari Sewer, Chilokim Cherry, Chifari Cherry, Chizhara Cherry, Lily E. Matthias and Leon H. Matthias III. He is also survived by great- granddaughter, Jaylien Stapleton; sisters: Dolores Nicholas Cooper, Mavis Nicholas Roberts, Barbara Nicholas Marunde and Gennie Stanley George; brother, Cedric Nicholas; and nieces: Ingrid Nicholas, Cheryl Davis, Sharon Cooper, Susan Cooper, Cherryann Cooper, Roxanne Cooper, Severina Rivers, Jennifer Williams, Debra Roberts, Michelle Barrett, Nicole Roberts, Karen Farrell, Denise Nurse, Kathyann Dolly, Donna Cooper and Pricilla Wharton. Other survivors include nephews:Wayne Nicholas, Brian Cooper, Earl Cooper, Curtis Cooper, Curtis Nicholas, Winston Nicholas, Anthony Cooper, Stefan Maurande, Marlon Nicholas, Clevon George and Richard George; close friends and others: George Flemming, Ivan Flemming, Garfield Lawrence, Members of the First Assembly of God Church, the staff of the Amber Court of Brooklyn Assisted Living Facility, and the staff of the Crown Heights Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at First Assembly of God Church, No. 4ABC Fisher Street, Christiansted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Divine Funeral Services and Crematory. We own and operate our own crematory.
