Rotterdam Cancels St. Croix Visit

The cruise ship Rotterdam has canceled its Sunday call to St. Croix, the V.I. Port Authority announced Thursday.

Port Authority Director Carlton Dowe said Holland America Line gave no explanation for the Rotterdam’s cancelation. Holland America said in an email to the Source that the ship was in Europe. The website www.vesselfinder.com indicated the Rotterdam was in Rotterdam, Netherlands on Thursday. It was expected to call Friday at Southampton, England, where it would begin a 91-day sail to the Far East.

The press release indicated the Rotterdam was scheduled to berth at the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility in Frederiksted. According to Holland America’s website, the ship has a capacity of 1,404 passengers and 600 crew members.
