A homeless man was shot and killed in broad daylight Monday in the Market Place in Frederiksted, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The victim was identified as Elvis Davis, of no fixed address. It was the 32nd homicide in the territory since the beginning of the year, the 14th on St. Croix.
According to the police, at 1:30 p.m., 911 emergency dispatchers notified officers of a "man down" in the Market place. Call Center of a man down in the Market Place.
Officers and an ambulance were dispatched to the area, where Davis was found lying in the Market with multiple gunshot wounds about the body. He showed no signs of life, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.
