A man was shot early Monday afternoon while he was driving out of the Bethlehem Village and Profit Hills area, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to the police, officers were dispatched at 1:45 p.m. Monday to a residence in Estate Williams Delight in response to a report of a gunshot victim.
The 27-year-old victim told responding officers he was driving in the Bethlehem Village and Profit Hills, locally referred to as Harvey. He said he was leaving the area when he heard shots fired at his vehicle, which sustained gunfire damage.
The victim said he didn’t see anyone in the immediate vicinity when the shots rang out.
Officers and members of the forensic unit cordoned off and examined the area of Bethlehem Village and Profit Hills where the victim was shot. They gathered spent shell casings and spoke with various individuals in the area, who were unable to provide any information regarding the incident.
The victim was taken to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital by ambulance and was treated for a gunshot wound to the lower shin.
The incident is being investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
