V.I. Police Department officers Friday arrested a suspect in a domestic-violence assault.
According to the police report, officers responded to a call of an assault at 7:20 a.m. Friday in Mutual Homes. Arriving at the scene, the officers met the victim, who told them that her former boyfriend had entered her home without permission and became upset with her after she requested that he leave.
The former boyfriend then grabbed the victim by the throat and began to strangle her, leaving visible marks on her neck and shoulders. The victim fought back and the suspect released her.
He then caused additional damage to the apartment and took a set of keys belonging to a male acquaintance of the victim who was present during the incident. He ran out of the apartment and took the friend’s vehicle.
Police issued an all-point bulletin for the stolen vehicle, which was later found by officers in the area of Estate White Lady.
Officers arrested Kamane Joseph in the Walter I.M. Hodge Housing Community and took him into custody. He was charged with second-degree assault, domestic violence, and held without bail pending an advise of rights hearing.
