Albertha Hewitt Akins Dies in New Jersey

Albertha Hewitt Akins Albertha Hewitt Akins, also known as "Bertha," of Pleasantville City, N.J., died on Nov. 5. She was 87 years old.
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Mabel Hewitt, Drucilla Hewitt Brooks and Pricilla Hewitt Malone; and brothers: Nathaniel Hewitt Sr. and Sebert Hewitt Sr.
She is survived by her sisters: Leola Hewitt Malone, Gresilda Hewitt Pender, Vashti Hewitt Mapp, Almira Hewitt Harris and Janest Hewitt Schrader; brothers: Abraham Hewitt and Albert Hewitt; sisters-in-law: Doreen Hewitt and Alicia Hewitt; and nieces: Loraine Caiby, Annette Brooks, Amabel Hewitt, Patra Hewitt, Eleanor Liebert, Ena Malone, Patricia Harrison, Janet Hewitt, Laurel Hewitt-Sewer, Shelbourne Hewitt, Vanessa Hewitt, Alicia Hewitt, Sandra Wilson, Maureen Wilson, Janest Wilson, Edna Mae Schuster, Rose Gonzales, Joycelyn Schuster, Magdalyn Quinland, Jessica Philgence and Yvette Brotzman.
She is also survived by nephews: Denzil Brooks, Victor Malone Jr., Aubrey Hewitt, Abraham Hewitt Jr., Renald Hewitt, Delbert Hewitt, Sebert Hewitt Jr., Hainsley Hewitt, Glen Hewitt, Ronald Hewitt, Vaughn Hewitt, David Mapp, Douglas Mapp, Kenneth Mapp, Curtis Griffin, Dirk Schuster, Ashley Quinland, Albert Hewitt Jr., Kevin Hewitt, Mark Hewitt, Robert Harris, Stephen Harris, LeRoy Williams and Leonard Williams; special great-great nephew, Kadheem Hennemann; and special cousins: Celestine Durant and David Hyliger.
Other survivors include godchildren: LeRoy Williams, Albert Hewitt Jr., Victor Malone Jr., Maureen Branch and Shericse Mitchell; other family members to include: the Chinnary family, the Nicholas family, the Hodge family, the Walcott family, the Harris family, the Davis family, the Francis family, the Davis/Rhymer family and the Caiby family from St. Thomas; special friends: Avilda Branch, Diane Henderson and Eqlantine Romney; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, at Bethel AME Church. A private interment will follow.
