Rogers KO'd in the Fifth Round

A blow to the back of the head of V.I. boxer Samuel “the Rock City Cobra” Rogers forced referees to end his fight with Sergio “the Latin Snake” Mora in the fifth round Saturday night in Las Vegas.

“I lost by TKO guys,” Rogers posted on Facebook after the bout. “A punch to the semi back of the head got me seeing stars. And the referee did his job and stopped the fight in the 5 round. Going to look back at the fight and reflect what I need to do to get better.”

Rogers, whose record now stands at 14-2 with 8 KOs, and Mora, 26-2-3, 9 KOs, traded scores for the first four rounds, with Mora dominating the first and third rounds and Rogers coming out on top in the second and fourth, according to Internet posts.

The Source will provide more details on the fight, which was held at Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, as they become available. The bout was a special middleweight attraction on a card highlighted by former world champion Javier "El Abejon" Fortuna (25-0-1, 18 KOs,) who trumped Juan Antonio Rodriguez (26-5) in what boxing experts have been describing as a “hard earned” 10-round victory.
