The St. Croix District Court Rising Stars Steel Orchestra brought home the Grand Champion Award and more than $1,250 in cash prizes in the 12th annual Panorama Caribbean Music Fest and Competition for student musical groups held in Virginia Beach last weekend.
This was the band’s first trip outside the territory and Lisa Davis, assistant court administrator who accompanied the group said, "This was something new for the students. They are anxious to go back and compete again.”
More than 400 participants from 14 states competed in the music fest. A video of the band performing can be seen here on YouTube.
