Westin Resort and Villas Holds Run Wednesday

The Westin St. John Resort and Villas will kick off its Westin Well-being Movement Wednesday with a 2.2-mile run open to local residents, visitors and Westin workers.

“We’re proud to lead this global movement for our guests right here in St. John,” Mike Ryan, general manager at The Westin St. John Resort and Villas, said in a news release. “We hope you’ll join us for the hotel run and our upcoming new activities moving forward as we continue our efforts to celebrate wellness on our sunny shores.”

Runners and walkers can sign up in advance at 1-340-714-6011 or in the hotel lobby starting at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event.

The run begins at 8 a.m. and wends its way through the resort and the nearby neighborhood of Great Cruz Bay. The Westin St. John Resort and Villas will also host a healthful SuperfoodsRx break for all guests, runners and walkers to help fuel them throughout the day.

The run will be led by Julius Jackson, a native of St. Thomas and Olympian whose professional boxing career has led him throughout the world.

The run is part of the global launch of the Westin Well-being Movement, a campaign designed to enhance the well-being of guests and Westin staff around the world. The yearlong initiative, a $15 million campaign, will introduce a string of partnerships and programs across Westin’s six brand pillars: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well, and Play Well.

The launch coincided with the International Day of Happiness and Well-being and the Spring Equinox.

The Westin Well-being Movement will launch globally with Headspace, its first new partnership of 2014, aimed at helping guests feel well. Headspace founder and meditation pioneer Andy Puddicombe, will lead the charge as the authority for the brand’s Feel Well pillar and is the first person appointed to the Westin Well-being Council.

The Headspace program includes dedicated space on www.Westin.com and includes videos and seven custom meditation exercises.
