Police on St. Croix are investigating an armed robbery that occurred about 12:30 p.m. Friday in Estate Williams Delight.
According to the preliminary report from the V.I. Police Department, one suspect entered the EZ Tool Rental and robbed the owner of between $150 and $200.
Officers reported that a man armed with a black handgun and wearing a black nylon cap over his face, a green shirt and khaki shorts threatened the woman who owned the shop. He took money from the cash register and fled the store.
No one was injured. Witnesses said the suspect fled the area in a red vehicle.
Police issued an “all points bulletin” with a description of the vehicle to all law enforcement. A vehicle matching the description was sighted in Estate Castle Coakley about 1:30 p.m. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but it did not stop and collided with the police vehicle.
The two passengers were transported to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries. A police officer was also taken to the hospital and treated for abrasions as a result of the collision.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives and forensic technicians collected evidence from the vehicle and are investigating this case to determine if it is related to the EZ Tool Rental robbery.
A firearm was also confiscated from the suspects’ vehicle.
The occupants of the vehicle – 31-year-old Shamal Reviere and 31-year-old Calvin Lloyd – were charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and placed on $25,000 bail each. They were remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
