Ray Anthony Thomas Dies at 55

Ray Anthony Thomas Ray Anthony Thomas, also known as"Ray T," of Eliza’s Retreat died on Jan. 17, at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center. He was 55 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Maynard; father, Edwin Thomas Sr.; stepmother, Ann Thomas; daughters: Sherisma Thomas-Cantan, Kenisha and Raynelle; sons: Ray Jr, Raheem, Rascine and Rasheed; grandchildren: Shaqaia, Shawn Jr., Shkory and Slaya Canton, Pahaari and Kristazia Lynch, Ponaisha, Kamya and Rosai Thomas, and Eémeneicia Sanes; sisters: Marcy Encarnacion, Angela Maynard, Judith James, Laurie Thomas-Jacobs, Sandra and Diedre Thomas, and Vanessa Thomas-Berrios; and brothers: Harry, Jeffrey and Richard Maynard, Henry, Dean and Edwin Thomas Jr.
He is also survived by nieces: Linda Mitchell, Monifa Grant, Sharifa and Keema Encarnacion, Indira and Shaniqua Ringham, Jasmine, Aberline, Shereen and Shelima Maynard, Safiya, Aisha, Chantelle, Quianna, Marie, Kheya and Latoya Smith, and D’Neicia Jacobs; nephews: Ricardo, Harry and Sadique Maynard, Donald and Akiel Ringham, Rudolpho II, Edwin, Hanite, Dean Jr., Deshaune, Khalid, Akeel, Sy and Elijah; great nieces and great nephews too numerous to mention; aunts: Gaynel and Eleanor Turner; great aunt, Anna Phillipus; uncles: Alfred Turner Jr., Alphonso "Scipio" and Eugene "Genix" Thomas; son-in-law, Shawn Canton Sr.; and brothers-in-law: Rudolpho, Ronald, Justin, Rubio, Belto, Guillermo, Pancho and Angel.
Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Wendy, Yvette, Carmen, Lydia, Maria, Gus, Angelita, Andreita, Clay and Aquita; godparents: Una Edwards and Norman Bailey; cousins: Beryl Shaw, Annette Henry, Joycelyn Baptiste, George and Luis Lopez, Jeanette Cochrane, Ivan Martin, Karen Edwards, Kathleen Canton and family, the Phillipus family, Velma Farrelly, the Todman family, the Jacobs family, the Brown family and the Thompson family; special friend, Laverne Perez; friends: Leila Benjamin, Margret Acosta, Stop & Save family, the Chapman family, Rosa and Paul Horsford, Shemika Nathaniel, Debbie Johnson, American Legion Hall family, staff of the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Lang, June Vanterpool, Decon and Mrs. Rivera, Mr. Pickering and the Christiansted Credit Union staff, Wilmot Horsford, Eglant Romney; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
