Two Men Injured in Separate Shootings

Two men were injured by gunshots Saturday on St. Thomas in unrelated incidents, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The first shooting involved a man who was bathing his dog outside his residence in the Oswald Harris Court housing community. He told police that while he was taking care of his dog he heard gunshots and saw a man he did not know firing shots at him.

The suspect was dressed in black and had a red hat covering most of his face.

The victim, who is 26-years-old, was treated at the Schneider Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his lower left leg.

In an unrelated incident, at about 2:45 p.m. a 22-year-old man told police he was shot in the back by a person he did not know.

The shooting happened in the Paul M. Person’s Garden housing community. Police spoke to the victim at the hospital, where he had been taken in a private vehicle.

Witnesses in the housing community told police there were several shots fired in the area. This case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives for further investigation.
