School of Visual Arts & Careers Recruits High School Students

The School of Visual Arts & Careers (SVAC) is recruiting high school students in grades 9-12 for its 2013 – 2014 after-school program. Students will receive training in drawing, painting and mixed media as well as digital art. Emphasis will also be placed on exploring art-related careers and developing a portfolio for college entrance or professional employment.
Instructors and guest artists will expose students to a variety of media and approaches to creating art. SVAC was established in 1983. Many of its graduates have gone on to major in art-related fields in college or are working in careers in the arts.
This non-profit program is located in the red I. Levin Building on Main Street, across from the former Enid Baa Library. The school is funded in part through grants from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, local contributors and corporate donations. Students pay only an annual registration fee of $50.
For more information about the program, contact Edie Johnson at 344-4369.
