USVI Soccer Under-17 Women's Team Qualifies for Caribbean Football Finals

The U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Association Under-17 Women’s Team qualifies for the finals of the Caribbean Football Union Women’s U-17 World Cup qualifying tournament. Despite a defeat from tournament winners, Trinidad and Tobago, the U.S.V.I. women qualify for the next round of matches after an impressive victory over St. Kitts and Nevis on Friday, Aug. 16. Their goals were scored by Zola Kaza Saint-Dic, who had a hat trick with goals in the 7, 24 and 27 minutes. Jaha McClean had two goals in the 38 and 62 minutes. Earlier on Aug. 16, Trinidad and Tobago were 4-1 victors over Antigua and Barbuda with two goals each from Chevonne John in the 38 and 40 minutes, and Chelcy Ralph in the 44 and 75 minutes. Antigua and Barbuda lone goal came from Sonja Henry in the 18th minute.
On Aug. 18, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Kitts and Nevis played to a dull 0-0 tie, and by virtue of that result, the USVI qualified no matter the result of its match with Trinidad and Tobago. The U.S.V.I. women were nursing some injuries to key players and they did not withstand the slaughter from the Trinidad and Tobago team, which was ruthless on goal with 13-0 victory over the U.S.V.I.
