DUI Crackdown Nets Four Arrests

Officers on St. Thomas arrested four people for driving under the influence of alcohol recently, warning drivers against drunken driving, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Traffic enforcement officers territorywide reminded drivers that any time they are going to drink alcohol they should have a designated driver or arrange for alternate way of getting home, such as taking a taxi or phoning a friend.

Beginning Friday, the territory will take part in a nationwide campaign against drunken driving, which will last through the Labor Day weekend.

– Amy Lynn Bagget, 29, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence. Police said Bagget ran a red light on Veterans Drive. Police said when they stopped the vehicle she was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. She was placed on a $500 bail and released;
– Paul Alex Brooks, 43, was arrested and charged with DUI about 3 p.m. Saturday on Dronningens Gade. Police said he disregarded a red light and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Brooks bail was set at $1,500;
– Two drivers were arrested when they were involved in an auto collision on the Harwood Highway. Police said Louis Patrick Telemaco, 45, and Alvorez K. McGovern, 27, were both driving and collided into each other’s vehicles. Police said both Telemaco and McGovern failed field sobriety tests and the breathalyzers showed they were over the legal limit. Bail was set for each suspect at $500.
