Police on St. Croix are investigating two unrelated robberies that took place over the weekend.
At about 11:45 a.m. Friday police were dispatched to the Golden Rock Shopping center to investigate a reported robbery. The initial police report stated two suspects were outside the Golden Rock Pharmacy while a woman was shopping inside. When she exited the store the suspects allegedly threw her to the ground, took something from her and fled the area on foot.
The woman did not cooperate with officers and did not describe the suspects or what they took from her. The victim did not seem to be injured and the suspects were not located, according to police.
Witnesses said one suspect was a slim Hispanic male with locks, with a light complexion. He was wearing an orange and black shirt, shorts and sandals. The second male suspect had a dark complexion and a slim build, the witnesses said.
At about 5:15 p.m. Sunday a robbery was reported in Estate Yellow Cedar.
According to the initial report, a man was cutting grass when he was approached by two men, dressed in black with white T-shirts over their faces. One suspect pointed a handgun at the victim; the second suspect searched the victim’s pockets and removed a roll of weed whacker string. The suspects then threatened to injure the victim and then fled the area on foot. No one was injured.
Both cases have been turned over to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for further investigation.
