Memorial Service Friday for Nancy D’Anna

Nancy D’Anna died July 18 at Roy Schneider Medical Center from complications of pneunomia. D’Anna was born in Jersey City, N.C., on April 15, 1953. She received a BS from Rutgers University and graduated from Rutgers Law School.
She came to St. Thomas in 1984. She first worked for Almeric L. Christian, chief judge of the District Court of Virgin Islands. After two years, she worked for Maria Tankenson Hodge P.C. until she opened her own practice on St. John in 1990.
During the 29 years of her residence on the islands, Nancy established a community of good friends and associates, her “not-family family.” She also continued some longstanding friendships from her youth and college years, most notably Hank Skalka.
Nancy leaves behind her sisters: Jean Branham and her family, Robyn D’Anna and her family, Jill D’Anna, and Lynne Brooks and her family. She is preceded in death by Edmund Foreit, the love of her life, and her parents: Nicholas and Rita D’Anna.
Those of us who know her and love her will miss her in so many ways. She will be with us always.
There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26, at the Oppenheimer Pavillion at Hawk’s Nest beach, St. John.
All arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, 774-1464.
