Good Hope Announces Merger with Country Day

Good Hope School and Country Day School have agreed to merge into a single school beginning in September.

The decision was announced Tuesday in a letter posted on the Good Hope School website. The letter was signed by Charles Lockwood, chairman of the Good Hope Board of Trustees, and Raquel Cedano, head of Good Hope School. The merger was not mentioned on the Country Day website Tuesday afternoon, and a phone call to the school was not answered

According to the letter, the combined private school will use the Country Day campus, which is more centrally located. The school will be called The Good Hope Country Day School. The current team mascots, the Good Hope Falcons and the Country Day Tigers, will be replaced by the Griffins.

The Good Hope Board of Trustees will hold a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Ward M. Canady Library on the school’s west St. Croix campus to answer questions from the school community and to begin the planning process for achieving the merger.
