The 29th Women Race is an annual event for females only; it brings together on the first Sunday afternoon in the month of June, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, great- grandmothers, great-great grandmothers, advocates of the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix and others who believe in the mission of the St. Croix non-profit organization. The two-mile road race alternates between the towns of Christiansted and Frederiksted. On Sunday, Mikaela Smith of the St. Croix Track Club became the youngest (pending) winner of her race with a time of 13 minutes and 28 seconds. Smith along with her teammates: Rachel Conhoff, who came in second in 13:42 and Mireille Smith (her mom), who came in at 14:20, took the first three spots.
More than 200 registered for the race with (unofficially) 174 finishers. They represented public and private schools with Country Day School winning the award for most participants. The fastest group award went to the St. Croix Track Club. Susan Ellis 21:21 took the award for mom pushing a stroller. The top three finishers in various age groups received awards also.
